Multiple layers are needed for use in suspension-purpose.

The heavier the loading, the more layers needed.

How much weight ONE sheet of lycra can hold ? There are factors affecting it. We did TWO simple tests at CREST with the spec. below to help give some references to this question:

LYCRA spec.:

6ft length

62-64 inch width

82% Nylon, 18% Spx

~180g/ yard

DISTANCE BETWEEN HANGING POINT:

80cm holding point distance

DIRECTION:

Length of the lycra parallel to the hanging point.

lycra width Vs between hanging point distance affect how much it is stretched.

Lycra has different "tolerance to stretch" in different direction.

TEST 1

HEIGHT:

Knot height from ground 135cm

RESULT:

WEIGHT: 34kg.

It still not touch the ground yet, 10cm above the ground.

TEST 2

HEIGHT:

Knot height from ground 200cm

WEIGHT: ~50kg (an Adult)

It still not touch the ground yet.
